Museum Project

To My Fellow Tensasans:

As a part of our mission to maintain the legacy and cultural heritage of our esteemed Tensas Parish, TRI has begun the process of establishing a museum that captures the legacy of our former schools (Tensas Rosenwald, Davidson High, Newellton High, and Waterproof High) and the impact they have had on Tensasans across the country.  The museum will be located in St. Joseph, LA, on Plank Road.  Construction for the project is underway and we will be dedicating the building during our 2014 reunion. Illustrations of the museum are provided below:

We would like for you to be a part of this historical effort!  As you are already a part of the rich legacy of Tensas, we would also like you to be a PERMANENT part of this building project.  You can pay tribute to your school(s) by purchasing an engraved memorial tile that will beautify a wall dedicated to the legacy of thousands of Tensasans.  You can also purchase a tile for your relatives that may have attended any one of these schools but is no longer able to do so themselves.  A few samples of the tile are as follows:

Details:

  • Each commemorative tile costs $100.00
  • Each tile holds up to 3 lines of text, 18 spaces per line
  • Each tile will showcase one of the school mascots (per your choice), a chief, warrior, bear, or tiger
  • Each tile requires its own order form to be completed
  • The purchase of a commemorative tile is tax deductible.  TRI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
  • Tiles can be ordered by emailing your order form to wendellp@cox.net or mailing your form to the following address:
